Not for the first time, Spotify has been offering a massively discounted trial to potential consumers in the US – offering premium access to the service for three months for just $0.99. Elsewhere it was offering one month of access at a discounted rate but now has extended this to £0.99/€0.99 for two months in the UK and other European markets. It will, naturally, be read as a pre-emptive strike before Apple Music goes live next week for free for three months (but now paying rightsowners). Deezer recently jumped into this discounted trial dust up with its sleeves rolled up, taking what Spotify is doing in the US and applying it to Europe where three months of access will cost £0.99/€0.99 (although users will have to sign up before the first week of July to avail of it).
